Research, assisted by an Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee of CSCAR should be composed of ten members representing both the provider and client groups as well as the major academic and administrative units.
Permanent members should include: the Director of CSCAR as Chairperson of the
Executive Committee; the Chairpersons (or their designees) from the Departments of Statistics, Biostatistics, Statistics and Management Science, and Industrial and Operations
Engineering; and a representative of the Information Technology Division. The Committee should also have three rotating members who have knowledge of and who represent the
needs of statistical services on campus (to be appointed by the Vice President for Research based on recommendations from the "user and supplier" community). Terms for these
rotating members will be staggered and will be for two years with the possibility of one
reappointment. One graduate student (one-year term) should also be included on the Committee. The Committee should meet a minimum of once per month. It should report
regularly to the appropriate Deans and Executive Officers.
The Executive Committee shall advise the Director on general policies regarding the nature and scope of the activities of the Center, and in cooperation with the responsible officers of
the teaching units, for the coordination of its activities with the research and training
functions of such units. It shall also be responsible to the Vice President for Research for recommendations relating to the appointment of members of the research scientist staff. It
will advise the Director on contracts for service to be rendered by the Center, provided that such contracts must also have the approval of the Vice President and Chief Financial
Officer.
